The Spanish Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) signed an administrative agreement on the 22nd of December 2005. The parties of this agreement were the Spanish Transplant Organization (ONT) and the WHO’s Service Delivery and Safety department.bolis

The agreement enabled a contribution by the Spanish Ministry of Health to the WHO in financial and staff resources in order to implement the cell, tissue and organ transplantation program, including the creation and development of the global database on donation and transplantation, which is the basis of the joint ONT-WHO Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation (GODT).

This is the best example of a daily collaboration between WHO and ONT, which follows one of the requirements of Resolution WHA57.18, to collect global data and ethical issues.

Nowadays, the Newsletter Transplant of the Council of Europe database is connected with the GODT and other international data collection projects to avoid duplication of efforts. The collective data are also included in the GODT.
